Arthur Cooper

Arthur’s passion for carving wood started over eleven years ago in Southern Tasmania, using one of the world’s most beautiful and ancient timbers, Huon Pine. He creates one-off pieces of furniture, wood sculptures and a variety of functional bowls, wooden spoons, ladles and other kitchen utensils. Arthur likes his work to be practical as well as visually pleasing. Each piece of work has a character and uniqueness, which is no doubt why his work is enjoyed by so many.

Currently, his studio is in the South West of Western Australia, heartland of the statuesque, unique hardwood forests. It is here that Arthur fashions his bowls from Jarrah and Sheoak (Casuarina), which he salvages from the fallen timber on farms and the forest floor.

Arthur has enjoyed great success. His works have been enthusiastically sought after both nationally and internationally, with the larger portion being collected by clients from overseas.
