ANDREW DIXON – ARTIST STATEMENT
Andrew Dixon is originally from Kellerberrin, with Wheat and Sheep farming background.
He became interested in woodwork after his grandfather introduced him to wood turning.
At this time he became particularly interested in the unique texture and grain of Western Australian hardwoods. This can be used in natural edge and a clean profiled edge finish.
The ability to use recycled older timbers which would have been only wasted as firewood also appeals to Andrew as this wood has its own unique qualities and features.
His work is always evolving with his current work including Picture Frames and Mirrors crafted in Jarrah, Marri, Blackbutt, Karri and Sheoak.
