Drawing has been a passion all my life, since I could first hold a pencil. A box of coloured pencils and watercolours was an adventure second to none. I was unable to afford the time to pursue my interest seriously until the new millennium. Except for a brief period in the 1980s when I attended Claremont School of Art, I am self-taught and I have been a full time resident of Margaret River since 1994.
I enjoy using a diversity of media; painting, sculpting and sketching my fascination with the natural world and with the human form. My most recent achievement was to win both a major acquisitive award and the Viewer’s Choice award at the SouthWest Times Survey 2009 at the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery.
I am inspired by the ever-changing south west beach-scapes and forests surrounding my Margaret River home; by the vibrant colours and stark, raw beauty of our north-west; and the energy and contours of the human form and face.
I enjoy giving workshops and lessons to small groups of local people by request, and undertake commissions, including portraits.
