NONIE GIRALT – ARTIST STATEMENT
Born: 1931
Nonie was born in Cue, Western Australia.
First exhibition at age 17 was at Newspaper House, Perth – with a selected group of high school leavers.
Began formal fine arts studies in 1952 at Perth Technical College, St.Georges Tce with teachers Howard Taylor & John Lunghi.
Studied Portraiture with Henry Froudist for two years at Perth Technical School of Art.
Diploma course in Art History, Drawing, Painting and Ceramics at Claremont and Carine Technical schools.
1987 moved to Margaret River.
1989 joined 21 artists and art lovers to create Margaret River Art Galleries.
1990 – 1993 curator and co-manager Margaret River Art Gallery.
Exhibited in many shared exhibitions and competitions in Perth and throughout the Southwest, including the Bunbury Southwest Survey.
Nonie is represented in corporate collections in Japan & Indonesia.
Private collections in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, England, Scotland, France, Canada, America and Japan.
A fusion of Impressionist and Pointillist techniques, enable her to achieve the effects she seeks to convey.
2009 Vasse Primary School Art Award, Third Prize. Judge: Gary Dufour.
