Lori Pensini

LORI PENSINI – ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Artists are recognised with signature styles unique to their own flamboyance. Bold canvasses saturated with colour and a flare for diversity has become Lori’s. Her own life stories commonly thread their way through alluring figurative works set boldly against the Australian backdrop of sun, city and surf. They are often whimsical, light in mood, not to be analysed, just enjoyed.

Lori was Born in 1970 in the wheat belt Railway town of Narrogin, population 4500, 192km south east of Perth and experienced a typical country upbringing on a small horse farm in the Yillaminning locality in the Narrogin shire.
She was enrolled in the small local catholic primary school of 100, and finished secondary education at the local high school in Narrogin before moving to Perth 1987 to work.
Lori completed a Certificate of Architectural Drafting in 1990 before moving with her future husband to his family’s cattle station, 1 million acres situated along the Hamersley Ranges in the Pilbara, North West of Western Australia, some 1400kms from Perth.
Encouraged by the raw lifestyle and landscape whilst living on ‘Wyloo” Lori took to sketching local flora and fauna. Lori in 1998 was then approached by Pilbara Fine Art Gallery, in Karratha, 350kms away to exhibit with them and hold her first solo exhibition in Karratha in 1999.

INSPIRATION
“Ours is a family of pioneering stock and I have a great love for and attachment to the land. My inspiration comes solely from the remote lifestyle I have enjoyed, with isolation an ally to a fervent and fertile imagination. My childhood and childlike perceptions weave and infinite thread through my canvas’s, lending the works a sense of naivety. The endurance of the Australian bush tints them with dry humour, wit and a familiarity that engages the viewer on a personal level.”
