BACKGROUND:
In the past 30 years Andy has painted almost anything that didn’t move – and plenty of things that did. From airbrushing panel vans, motorcycles and boats in the 1980’s through to massive forty-metre-long billboards and murals in the 1990’s, Andy has decorated them all.
He has completed large scale works inside and outside commerical premises around Perth as well as producing scenic art for numerous television commercials. Since then he has operated a successful freelance illustration business producing works for direct clients and a number of advertising and design agencies and was employed for several years as Art Director for a Perth advertising agency.
Today, Andy has returned to his love of the Western Australian outdoors. His subjects range from rural landscapes to forests and seascapes but the one thing that brings them all together is sunlight. Andy is particularly interested in the moody effects of light and shadow, especially the long shadows of morning and evening, and sees each painting as a memory of a time and place.
Andy continues to enjoy consistent sales and works are now held by local and interstate customers as well as buyers from the UK, USA and Asia. He has also been invited to do demonstrations and workshops for a number of Art Societies in WA.
