Wayne Jeffery

About the artist
Wayne grew up in rural New Zealand in the Wairarapa just north of Wellington in the North Island.
Since childhood, Wayne has developed a passion for many forms of art – sculpture, drawing and oil painting. He received his first commission for oil paintings at the age of 23 in 1989, which began his focus on his art career.
After developing his skills in iron work, he discovered a rare talent and a love of consulting with clients, to design and fabricate unique pieces to suit the architecture of clients’ homes.
With a strong client base from Sydney’s North Shore and Eastern Suburbs, he successfully created Jalmer Wrought Iron with his wife Wendy, where he worked on commissioned wrought iron projects including ornate gates, balustrades, doors and furniture for eight years.
On moving to Perth in 2007, he started working on a new form of sculpture that reflects the old masters of the medium with modern welding methods.
Wayne’s personal interests are boating, ocean fishing and enjoying the natural environment. He is a father of two girls and lives in the Perth Hills.

About the artworks
Wayne’s fine artworks mainly reflect Australian animals and natural settings.
These works are built from mainly recycled steel.
Each piece is handcrafted and all are signed originals (major pieces with Certificates of Authenticity). Wayne does not work from drawings – instead letting inspiration or a particular piece of steel helps influence the final result.

Career Achievements
2010 Awarded “Highly Commended” prize in the Furniture and Textiles category at the Darlington Arts Festival.
2010 Invited to enter the “Byford Fine Art Competition”.
