Justin Webb

My name is Justin Webb and I live in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia.

I’m a boilermaker/welder by trade with over 20 years experience. I moved here many years ago and immediately started work for a local farmer seeding (tractor driving) and modifying buildings and everything else that I could for him!

I’ve always longed to get into my art at a more serious level and this beautiful place with its slower pace is perfect for just that. While working on the farm I noticed many rusting relics laying around and felt it was a shame these parts soon could be gone forever. So I decided to save them and start creating, realising my passion for creating sculptures based on these old farm relics.

Everything is made from 100% recycled material -solar power is used in the welding, grinding and buffing to make this a genuine process! Great care and creativity is put into every piece.
Sometimes a single item will inspire a whole sculpture. I don’t make the piece for the sculpture it has to almost fit like it’s a puzzle.

I sign all my sculptures and many of them have a steel Webb welded on the base. Quality is assured and being in the trade I know my different steels and how to weld them together.

Different finishes are available but I prefer clear acrylic (5 coats) as this protects the buff finish and shows the metal in all its glory!

I also try not to manipulate the individual pieces too much as these parts have worked hard to get its wear or damage so its integrity is kept intact! Many of these parts have helped to feed Australia and the world and I think this also is why this history must be saved in art-by making sculptures out of these old treasures.

I will hopefully save them from the scrapman and they will be here for generations to come……. centuries even:)
