Greg Ash
GREG ASH – ARTIST STATEMENT
Greg was born and educated in Perth. His teaching qualifications from ECU included an emphasis in art teaching. He studied fabrics and textiles, printmaking and silk-screening before discovering glass. Greg learnt to do leadlight glass at TAFE in the late 1980s and soon had finished lead lighting his Mt Lawley House and then received commissions.

Greg’s work is based on dichroic jewellery, landscaped inspired feature bowls and architectural work. His work is centred around nature and its rich colours.
Greg is now one of the WA state representatives for Ausglass and also a national director of the organization. Ausglass is the national glass artists association.
His work is at Boranup Gallery, The Hyatt at Coolum, Parliament House Gallery, Canberra, Glass Artist Gallery, Sydney, Gannon House , The Rocks, Sydney, Keith Rowe Galllery Blackheath, Blue Mtns, Aarwun Gallery, Canberra, Mundaring Arts Centre, Village Gallery, Kuranda, Territory Colours, Darwin, Waterways in Byford, Mill Gallery in York,. Pebble Mouse Gallery, Tom Price, The Pinnacles National Park and Artists on Parade, Tumbarumba to name a few of the galleries. He has recently been accepted in the Glass Menagerie Gallery in Corning, NY, home of the world’s largest glass collection. (Corning Glass Museum)
Greg’s piece, “Hamersley Gorge” was featured on the ABC Collectors program in episode 21. http://www.abc.net.au/tv/collectors/segments/s2622822.htm as part of the Ausglass National exhibition held in Hobart 2009.
He was also the best new exhibitor in Australia’s largest working craft fair, Tas-craft in October 2009.
