  • Description: TALES OF THE BAY The inspiration for this painting comes from the curious fact that Dunsborough was settled Because of the Castle rock whaling station, which hunted whales as they migrated along the coastline. The irony is that sailors would often carve crude scrimshaw pieces from the bones Or teeth of the whales like a strange tribute to the whales who have navigated the coastline for thousands of years. I have used the iceberg to symbolise the whales pure spirit and the door to show the damage done to these beautiful mammals.
